Ask FT, our AI-powered feature that helps FT Professional subscribers get answers from Financial Times journalism, is now available directly in the FT iOS app.
Whether you're preparing for a client meeting or curious to learn more about a new topic on your commute, you can now ask your questions and get summaries of FT coverage, right from your Apple device.
What are Ask FT users asking?
We know that time can often be the biggest barrier to reading trusted news sources like the FT, and that’s why we’ve brought Ask FT into the app experience. It puts relevant, summarised insight at your fingertips, and provides the full source articles for when you want to dive a bit deeper.
Since Ask FT was rolled out for FT Professional subscribers on ft.com earlier in 2025, over 100,000 questions have been asked, and generally subscribers like to pose questions that do the following:
- Summarise the news
Can I have a brief update on global markets this morning? - Explain what’s happening
What is the status of the EU's policy on the green transition? - Analyse an event or situation
How has the global trade war affected investment in Southeast Asia?
It’s as simple as typing your question into the Ask FT search bar, but specific, detailed and time-bound queries deliver the best results.
Who can use Ask FT in the app?
Ask FT is available in the FT iOS app for all opted-in FT Professional subscribers. When you first open it, you’ll see a prompt in the app to encourage you to try asking a question in Ask FT.
If you’re an FT Professional subscriber who accesses FT journalism through your work or university and you don’t have the option to use Ask FT in the app, it’s likely your organisation has decided to opt-out of Ask FT entirely. You can check this with our team by contacting customer.success@ft.com.
Android users haven’t been forgotten and the Android version is in development for an expected release before the end of the year.
